Rahmadi Nirwanto, one of the lecturers at Islamic State Institute (IAIN) Palangka Raya, took the opportunity to participate in a Seminar and Short Course of International Scientific Publication, “ under the theme of “the Acceleration of the Performance of Scientific Publication of Muslim Scholars,’’ which was held on April 28th, 2018, at University of Brawijaya Guest House, Malang, East Java, Indonesia. This conference was organized by Association of Indonesian Muslim Scholars /Vereinigung Indonesischer Muslimischen Intellektuellen e.V (Perhimpunan Intelektual Muslim Indonesia), Regional Representative of Malang.
The organisation was found in 2009 and it was officially registered on October 2013, in Hannover, Germany. The members consist of Muslim lecturers, researchers and practitioners from different disciplines all over the world. The activities include scientific activities, focus group discussion, e-magazine, e-radio and publication of Journal of Islamic Perspective on Science, Technology and Society (JISTECS).
According to the chairperson of the committee, Redi Bintarto, ST., M.Eng.Pract., the seminar and short course aimed at providing a forum for Muslim scholars to: (1) strengthening silaturahmi and cooperation among Muslim scholars in order to guard science and technology, (2) gain insights as much as possible from the experts, (3) yield intellectual products (in terms of science and technology). Furthermore, Mangku Purnomo, SP., M.Si., Ph.D.,who represented Rector of University of Brawijaya in his speech, pointed out that there were big challenges to be faced related to science and technology. Those who master science and technology will be able to create the main stream of the world. Therefore, in order to avoid being left behind, the mastery of science and technology was really needed and they could be utilized maximally for the prosperity of ummah.
The Keynote speakers for the seminar and short course were Prof. Iwan Triyuwono, SE Ak, M.Ec, Ph.D (Professor at Department of Accounting, University of Brawijaya), Lukman Noerochim, ST., M.Sc. Eng., Ph.D, (lecturer at Sepuluh November Institute Technology of Surabaya & Editor in Chief of Journal of Islamic Perspective on Science, Technology and Society), Prof. Dr. Zuliati Rohmah, S.Pd, M. Pd ( Professor at Sunan Ampel State Islamic University, Surabaya) and Yusuf Wibisono, Ph.D (a researcher at MILI Water Research Institute & Board Editor in Journal of Biosystem of Engineering and the Chairman of Association of Indonesian Muslim Scholars (Perhimpunan Intelektual Muslim Indonesia), Regional Representative of Malang.
Rahmadi Nirwanto stated that it was great opportunity for him to meet great key note speakers, and great participants from various fields. The conference and the short course really gave him the opportunity to exchange ideas, knowledge, experience, expertise and create networking among Muslim scholars.
